Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers about how we work, what we cost, and whether we are the right fit.
We are a managed IT services provider (MSP) for small and mid-sized businesses. In plain terms, we act as your outsourced IT department – keeping your computers, network, email and data secure, monitored and running, so you do not need staff to handle it. You can read more about who we are and how we work. Our work covers five areas: fully managed IT support, cybersecurity and compliance, backup and disaster recovery, cloud and Microsoft 365, and CIO-level strategy through our vCIO service.
We are based in Gilbert, Arizona and work throughout the Phoenix metro – including Chandler, Mesa, Queen Creek, Tempe, Scottsdale and Phoenix – as well as businesses across Arizona. Most day-to-day support is delivered remotely, so we can help quickly regardless of where you sit, and we come onsite when a problem genuinely needs hands on the equipment.
We work on a flat monthly rate rather than hourly billing. You know the number before the month starts, and routine support does not generate surprise invoices. What you pay depends on how many users and devices you have and which services you need. The honest answer is that we quote after we look at your environment – which is what the free assessment is for.
No. We do not require a long-term commitment to work with us. That said, a longer term does allow us to offer better pricing, so it is worth weighing rather than dismissing. Typical agreements run one, three or five years, and we will walk you through the trade-offs honestly instead of steering you toward the longest one.
Response times are agreed in your contract rather than being one-size-fits-all, because the right answer genuinely differs by business. A medical practice that cannot see patients without its systems needs a different commitment than an office that can absorb an hour. We negotiate those targets with you based on what your operation actually requires – and in practice, most clients find standard business-hours response is the right fit.
Yes. After-hours support can be built into your agreement, and for many clients it is. If you are not under an agreement and need help outside normal business hours, we can still help – that work is billed hourly at a higher rate than contract coverage. Separately, our automated monitoring runs around the clock regardless of your support hours, so problems are detected as they happen rather than waiting to be reported.
We work with businesses of every size – small offices, mid-sized companies, and enterprise environments. In practice, most of our clients have ten or more employees, which tends to be the point where managed IT clearly pays for itself. If you are smaller than that, it is still worth a conversation.
Very likely. Construction has been a major part of our work for years, including speaking nationally on technology and AI for contractors. We also bring deep experience in healthcare and other highly regulated environments where compliance and uptime are not optional – our founder helped build one of the first electronic medical record systems and has supported 24/7 mission-critical public safety infrastructure. If you work in a regulated or field-heavy industry, we have probably seen your problems before.
Yes. We manage both Windows and Apple environments, including Apple device management through Jamf and Kandji, alongside Microsoft 365 and Windows endpoints. Mixed environments are normal and we support them as one estate rather than treating Macs as an exception.
Yes. Plenty of businesses have a capable internal person who is stretched thin or missing depth in one area – usually security, compliance or strategy. We can work alongside them, taking on monitoring, security tooling and after-hours coverage, or provide CIO-level guidance through our vCIO service while they keep running day-to-day support.
Yes. Compliance is built into how we design systems rather than added afterward. Our security practices align with recognized frameworks including NIST, CIS Controls and CMMC, and we support businesses working under HIPAA and PCI obligations with the security controls, documentation and monitoring those standards expect. We are not auditors, but we build and maintain the technical environment that lets you pass an audit.
This is exactly what backup and disaster recovery is for. We keep automated backups both onsite and in the cloud, and we test them regularly – an untested backup is just a hope. If the worst happens, the goal is restoring you in minutes or hours rather than days, and we plan for business continuity so you can keep operating while systems are brought back.
No. We are vendor-agnostic by design and we are not resellers chasing commissions. We recommend technology based on what fits your business, budget and risk profile – and if a tool stops serving you, we will say so. We hold a Microsoft Solutions Partner designation and work across Microsoft 365, Azure, Google Workspace, AWS, VMware, Datto, SonicWall, WatchGuard, Cisco Meraki, Ubiquiti, Dell, Jamf and Kaseya.
Yes, and we come at it from experience rather than hype. Our founder was programming AI and expert systems for the Department of Defense and HCFA long before AI was a household word. Today we help businesses build practical AI roadmaps – identifying where AI genuinely saves your team time, what it will cost, and just as importantly where it is not worth the trouble yet. We also help you adopt it safely, because the quickest way to leak company data is an employee pasting it into the wrong tool.
Yes, we take on projects of any size – and not only in Arizona. If it is something we can do well, we will tell you. If it is not, we will tell you that too and point you toward someone better suited. Straight answers either way.
